Activities, DJ music and crafts for kids and families to enjoy. One of Newark’s largest plant sales. It’s time to welcome the season at Greater Newark Conservancy’s Spring Block Party & Plant Sale on Saturday, May 12th from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. (rain or shine) at the Conservancy’s Judith L. This year’s Block Party will feature hands-on cooking workshops for all ages, cooking demonstrations and healthy food for sale including grilled corn on the cob prepared and served by ShopRite of Newark. “Growing Soil/Ask the Farmer” workshops will run throughout the event. The Conservancy’s Second Saturdays program will allow kids to create a set of butterfly wings that they can wear to float around the garden. Art in the Garden materials and instruction will be available led by noted local artists Jerry Gant and Jo’el Lopez. Kids and adults will also be able to create “Kindness Rocks” to be displayed in a rock garden that’s part of the Nelson Mandela Freedom Garden.
