For the young & young at heart: Military Park Carousel is now open
by Brick City Live | April 24, 2017
The carousel in Military Park is now open for the warm months of 2017.
Tickets for the Chambers Family Carousel, which officially opened to the public in 2016, are available for sale at a cost of $2 per ride. The custom-made merry-go-round is inspired by historically significant Newark horses, including ones representing George Washington’s horse, Weequahic park race horses, and a police horse.
The carousel will be open seven days a week: from Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Riders must be two years old (younger riders can ride in the carousel’s chariots), and those 42 inches or shorter must be accompanied by an adult.
This season, Military Park is selling “ride cards” that offer visitors 14 rides for $20–a nearly 30 percent discount per ride. The park and carousel are also available for birthday parties. Those interested can find more information on Military Park’s website.
