A stop in Newark’s South Ward will be a part of Port Authority’s $1.7 billion PATH train extension to Newark Liberty International Airport.
A pair of public forums on November 28th and 30th will provide local residents and stakeholders with more information about the extension, and will give community members an opportunity to weigh in.
The PATH Extension program is meant to improve transit the airport for travelers and employees from Newark, Jersey City, and New York City. Riders in the neighborhoods surrounding the South Ward’s Dayton Street area will also enjoy easier access to Downtown Newark, Jersey City and Lower Manhattan.
The November 28th hearing will take place at the Weequahic Park Field House (92 Carmichael Drive–entrance at Meeker Avenue), and the November 30th session in the Garden State Ballroom at Hilton Newark Penn Station (1048 Raymond Boulevard). Both sessions will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with presentations at 5:30 and 7 p.m.
In addition to the new PATH Station, other transportation facilities are on the table for the project.
