by Brick City Live Staff/March 19, 2017
Update: The job fair scheduled for March 15th at Iglesia Pentecostal (63 Mount Pleasant Avenue) has been postponed until Wednesday, April 5th due to inclement weather.
The City of Newark will host a series of five job fairs–one in each ward–in March.
The Hire Newark Career Expo will launch on Wednesday, March 1st from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the South Ward at Good Neighbor Baptist Church (100 Chancellor Avenue), and then travel to the following locations:
Wednesday, March 8 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.): New Community Corp., 56-58 Hayes Street (Central)
Wednesday, March 15 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.): Iglesia Pentecostal, 63 Mount Pleasant Avenue (North) POSTPONED UNTIL APRIL 5TH
Wednesday, March 22 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.): Trinity Baptist Church, 400 South 12th Street (West)
Wednesday, March 29 (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.): Canaan Church, 205 Thomas Street (East)
Applicants should come prepared with a resume, wear professional attire, and register ahead of time online (click the direct link from here or, from the City of Newark homepage (newarknj.gov), click “Jobs” under the “City Services” section, then click the link “Sign up here for Hire Newark Career Expo now”). Those without internet access can call 973-878-3874 or visit Newark Jobs Connect at 1008 Broad Street.
Confirmation of participating organizations for the March series is pending. In November, hiring organizations included Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Wells Fargo, NJPAC, Robert Treat, Panasonic, Best Western, Storage King and Union Wear, among others. We’ll update with more information as hiring organizations are confirmed for the upcoming fairs.
