Newarkers invited to preview of, and Q&A about, Triangle Park development planned for downtown
by Brick City Live Staff/January 10, 2017
On Tuesday, January 17th, community stakeholders, including government officials, leaders, non-profit organizations the public at large are invited to participate in a set of live presentations and community feedback sessions about Triangle Park, which will be developed on three acres of open space spanning Mulberry Street, McCarter Highway and Peter Francisco Park, just east of Newark Penn Station.
According to an event flyer provided by the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation, the aspiration for Triangle Park is that it become a “world-class destination park that meets the needs of those who live, leisure and labor in Newark.” One key feature the planned park will bring to the area is the bridging, literally, of the Ironbound with downtown Newark, which are currently separated by rail lines, with a footbridge inspired by Manhattan’s High Line. Design concepts for the park will be presented before the floor is opened to participants for questions and answers.
The sessions will take place at Prudential Center’s VIP East entrance on Mulberry Street. The government official and small business session will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and the non-profit and citizen session will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
