Welcome to the Greater Newark Conservancy’s Youth Leadership Project blog!
Three high school students and one college mentor from Newark have come together to create an Instagram profile dedicated to the lives and stories of the residents and visitors of Newark.
They are part of the Greater Newark Conservancy’s 6-week Newark Youth Leadership Project. Below is a picture of the founders of the @humans.of.newark. You can view and follow the rest of the stories at @humans.of.newark on Instagram.

“Nature allows me to have a deeper connection with my soul.” Ayele, 16, is a rising senior at Weequahic high school in Newark, NJ; she aspires to be a Naturopathic Doctor.
“I am here to make a difference and to make sure that the time I have been given will not be wasted.” Kyle, 15, is an incoming sophomore at Dublin school in New Hampshire, where his dream is to be great in everything he does.
“As my pen strokes the paper, I am recording history to deliver to the world.” Aliyaah, 19, will be a junior in the fall at Rider University, where she is studying to become a highly recognized and respected journalist.
“Photography is my way of telling stories.” Sherley, 15, is a rising sophomore at Canterbury school in Connecticut; she desires to become a Neuroscience Photojournalist.
