Attend the annual tree lighting celebration at Prudential Center’s Championship Plaza tonight

The Newark Downtown District (NDD) is hosting its its annual holiday tree lighting celebration at Prudential Center Championship Plaza, on Monday, November 27th, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
This year’s celebration will feature live music from the Roberto Clemente School and soul band TruSoL, free pictures with Santa including a special holiday gift, a bouncy house, a trackless train, numerous carnival games, children’s movie characters, and Victorian carolers.
NDD says they are expecting up to 3,000 people this year. Mayor Ras Baraka, New Jersey Devils President Hugh Weber, and NDD Chief Executive Officer Anthony McMillan will be lighting the tree at 5:30 pm, and the concert will begin at 6:00 pm. Street and lot parking options are available.
This event is free and open to the public. The rain date is Wednesday, November 29th; the current forecast calls for zero percent chance of rain.
