PLOT LUCK DINNER CELEBRATES SUMMER HARVEST ON AUGUST 3RD
Published August 1, 2017 | Vince Baglivo
Garlic? Tomatoes? Potatoes? Peaches? Nearing the end of the summer can mean abundance in your garden. Break bread with other local gardeners at Greater Newark Conservancy’s annual summer plot luck dinner.
Bring a dish – enough to serve 6 people – made with ingredients from your garden, and share your gardening experiences with other like-minded community members on Thursday, August 3rd, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Judith L. Shipley Urban Environmental Center located at 32 Prince Street in Newark.
Not a gardener? Everyone is welcome! Just prepare or purchase an organic entree to share while meeting and networking. Rain or shine, everyone will stay dry under the big top tent!
The Plot Luck is free if you bring a dish to share, or $5 per person. Please include a card with the name of your dish and ingredients, for those with dietary restrictions.
Greater Newark Conservancy can also help you become a master garden plotter by providing the space and expert assistance in urban gardening through its Plot It Fresh Program (plots available on a first-come, first-serve basis). Gain the satisfaction of growing fresh and healthy food when you adopt your own garden plot. Tools, soil, garden beds and seeds are provided; free on-site workshops and programs are available. Plot it Fresh members, along with the community are invited to cook up what they grow and participate in the annual “Plot Luck” dinner.
Pre-registration for the Plot Luck Dinner is strongly encouraged. To register, or for more information about this event, Plot It Fresh or other Conservancy programs, to volunteer, or to make a donation call 973.642.4646 or visit www.citybloom.org.
