Emily Manz and Antonio Valla love their adopted city of Newark, and both spend a lot of time trying to uncover the best of downtown’s history and present through Have You Met Newark?, which brings Newark residents and visitors face-to-face with both well-known and lesser-known highlights of city neighborhoods.
In offering tours and experiences, the pair hew to the old journalism adage, “Show, don’t tell.” In addition to their walking tours of Downtown Newark and the Ironbound, they have hosted Brick City Bar Crawl in collaboration with The Newark Times, Nom Nom Newark food tours, and shopping editions of Have You Met Newark? tours that focus on encouraging people to spend money at local establishments for holiday gifts and other occassions.
On May 20th, the same day at the Downtown Newark Walking Tour, Have You Met Newark? will host its first-ever tour of Weequahic Park.
