Downtown Newark serves different flavors depending on where you are:
Ralphie Roman of creative agency Medina=Citi and shared workspace Equal Space has worked and lived Downtown Newark for the past 10 years. His experiences have taken him all around downtown and to nearby neighborhoods: from University Heights, where he was obsessed with the IHOP and the University Hospital complex (Ralphie is also a medical professional) to Halsey Street which, 10 years ago, was a hub for a “fraternity/sorority” of local creatives and entrepreneurs, many of whom have stayed local and gone on to have success in their respective endeavors. Market Street is where Equal Space found its legs, and Lincoln Park was the place where Ralphie truly felt at home– so much so that he recently invested for the long term by purchasing a condo in the neighborhood.
And while the Gateway complex has been known over the decades as a place that isolated its corporate tenants from the rest of the city, Gateway 2 has welcomed attractions to the building that can draw people in, including the galleries, artist studios, and Equal Space at Gateway Project Spaces on Gateway Two’s main concourse.
Choose your own adventure during the free Downtown Newark Living Tour, which is offering tours of a dozen residential buildings, free entry at seven museums and art spaces, seven free events and performances throughout the neighborhood, two special shopping opportunities, and discounts and specials at five local bars and restaurants. See the full list of participating venues at downtownnewark.com/living.
Reserve your spot now for the FREE Downtown Newark Living Tour, presented by Newark Downtown District, which will take place on May 20th from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
