People’s Prep, Newark’s only independent public charter high school, is making a push to get some extra fundraising love on #GivingTuesday.
Since 2012, the #GivingTuesday movement has encouraged Americans to donate to nonprofits on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Many nonprofits rally their supporters and the public during this time of year, People’s Prep is doing the same, with coordinated online promotional activities which highlight the values of the school.
“As the only independent public charter high school in Newark, #GivingTuesday and having a consistent low-dollar fundraising drive is extremely important to our bottom line,” explains Founder and Co-Director Jess Rooney. “In addition to making support easier for potential supporters, we are also using it as an anchor to begin a campaign showcasing our community, the connectivity and connection we have within the city of Newark, and the importance of college readiness.
