Edison Place between Broad and Mulberry Streets in Downtown Newark will transform into a pedestrian mall on Tuesdays and Thursdays this summer and through the early fall.
The block, located directly in the shadow of Prudential Center now boasts five bar/restaurants: Edison Alehouse, Taste Venue (which will be closed during lunch), Redd’s Biergarten, newcomer PJ Ryan’s and Ainsworth at Hotel Indigo. Closing the block to automobile traffic will enable patrons to purchase lunch inside the restaurants and enjoy their food and (non-alcoholic) beverages outside from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through October 11th.
During previous summers, Newark Downtown District has also organized lunchtime outdoor seating on Halsey Street and on Beaver Street.
