More than three dozen events planned for Newark’s Harvest garden tour

From Monday, August 13th through Saturday the 18th,more than a dozen local growers will show off their handiwork and celebrate urban farming and sustainability efforts as part of the third annual Newark’s Harvest Citywide Garden Tour.
The tour is meant to showcase the city’s agricultural spaces and foster environmental education, knowledge about healthy eating, and get locals to feast on locally grown produce.

Local gardens, parks and organizations will host farm stands and programming, including workshops and presentations, farm tours, meet and greets with local gardeners and farmers, children’s activities, performances and more. The weeklong series was organized by the award-winning organization Newark Science and Sustainability under the leadership of founder Tobias Fox. The organization has organized educational programs around sustainable living, environmental justice, quality of life, urban agriculture, ecological building and nutrition education since 2012.
