by Brick City Live Staff
Newark’s 350th anniversary is technically next year, but the celebration will officially kick off this fall with a family-friendly event to take place on Saturday, October 17th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Military Park. The Newark Celebration 350 committee’s “Family Fun Festival” will line up with the city’s annual Open Doors Citywide Arts Festival, and with the Newark Museum’s Festival of Color and Light, which will take place there from noon to 9 p.m.
The Family Fun Festival will start with the eight annual Peace Parade, which will run from 11 a.m. to noon and showcase Newark’s high school marching bands and performing arts organizations. The parade will be followed by the festival in the park from noon until 5 p.m. and will feature a series of live concerts and performances, arts and crafts, various demonstrations, and global cuisine representing the many communities and cultures in the city.
