WE SCOPED OUT WHAT’S ON SALE AT THE NEWARK WHOLE FOODS IN THE WAKE OF THE AMAZON ACQUISITION
Published August 28, 2017 | Brick City Live
Amazon officially acquired Whole Foods today, and as they announced last week, have begun cutting prices on best-selling staple items in Whole Foods stores.
Amazon and Whole Foods’ technology teams will also soon integrate Amazon Prime into the Whole Foods point-of-sale system, and when this work is complete, Prime members will receive special savings and in-store benefits. The two companies say they will innovate in additional areas over time, including in merchandising and logistics, to enable lower prices for Whole Foods customers.
Brick City Live visited the Newark Whole Foods this morning to scope out deals, which were still in the process of being marked with small orange placards that touted each item’s “New Lower Price.” Some price drops, like the 67 percent markdown on apples, were dramatic. Others were more subtle: a selection of marinara jars in the sauces and condiments aisle notched down 7 percent.
