What rain? How to enjoy Newark First Fridays today (and stay dry while doing it)

Newark First Fridays is scheduled to kick off today, but with rain forecasted for much of the day, the weather isn’t exactly ideal for a springtime jaunt in an outdoor market.
So the marketplace portion of First Fridays is postponed for this month (mark your calendars for Friday, June 2nd!), but other aspects of the monthly event are still on! They include:
In addition to the Halsey Street marketplace, First Fridays also includes official stops throughout downtown where you can check out events, see exhibits, get deals, or simply meet other First Friday revelers. Today’s official stops are:
City Without Walls (6 Crawford Street, 12 pm – 6 pm)
Index Art Center/Art & Artifacts of Newark (237 Washington Street, 11 am – 6 pm)
Express Newark (50 Halsey Street, 4 pm – 8 pm)
Newark Print Shop (54 Halsey Street, 4 pm – 8 pm)
Gateway Project Spaces (2 Gateway Center, 11 am – 6 pm)
The Painter’s Palette NJ (1-9 7th Ave, 10 am – 10 pm) Painting & Margaritas event. Mention Newark First Fridays for $10 off
Burger Walla(47 Halsey Street, 11 am – 8 pm)
Boutique Off The Hanger/A Necessary Style (12 Linden Street, 11 am – 7 pm)
First Fridays’ after party will feature Gonzalo Silva and DJ Faheem and run from 9 pm to 1 am. Its location will remain on the hush until 7 pm tonight, so stay tuned to their social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) for the details.
